A week that included all 150 student in Year 9 at Cathedral School. Working in teams they designed concept ships fit for the future. Teams were supported on the ship by naval architects, maritime engineers, nuclear engineers, materials specialists and green-tech start-up businesses. Ideas are for ships are based on the realities for global trade, energy productions, emissions legislation and rising concerns for defense. The ship provided students with insights into the world of shipping, something that we all depend on for the life styles we lead but very few people actually encounter it first hand.
The project is supported by Nisbet Trust and engineering businesses: BMT, NCCUK MOD and a squad of engineers from the STEM Hub (Graphic Science)
